The German Studies Association is horrified and saddened beyond words by the attack on the Tree of Life synagogue, and expresses its deepest sympathy to all those affected by this atrocity. Our annual conference took place in Pittsburgh just a few weeks ago, and we feel a special attachment to that city. As scholars of German Studies and as human beings, we have a special obligation, given the history of the German-speaking world, to resist all forms of antisemitism.
